Extrava Danse Académie (EDA) has been a part of the community of Rockland for over 35 years. Dance is a complex and technically challenging art form. Sending your child to a qualified teacher is important for their health and safety. Our bilingual teachers are proud to offer competitive and recreational dance training from pre-school age through to adult, including creative movement class for 3.5 to 4.5 year olds. EDA has a positive and welcoming environment with a qualified team of instructors that challenge and motivate each student.
EDA is a recognized Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (A.D.A.P.T.) school and a registered Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) school. Our mission is to deliver quality training and performance in a positive, and welcoming space by instilling safe dance practice, teamwork, and respect through proper discipline to encourage dancers to achieve their personal best. Through a graded syllabus, students are encouraged to achieve their goals and gain confidence and poise. Our programming has been developed to ensure a steady and appropriate progression from one level to the next.
Recreational Stream – For students who wish to explore dance in a fun, low-pressure environment while developing foundational skills.
Technical Training Stream – Focused on building strong technique, this stream requires students to participate in formal dance examinations through the A.D.A.P.T. and R.A.D. examining bodies.
Competitive Stream – Offered by invitation only to students in the Technical Training Stream who demonstrate a strong commitment and interest in pursuing competitive dance.
EDA offers three distinct streams of dance training to meet the needs and goals of every dancer:
Our professional studio features sprung dance floors, mirrors, and an online boutique for all your dance needs. The training season runs September to May, preparing students for a holiday showcase in December and a year-end recital in May. New students are welcome if space permits, with instructors evaluating proper class placement.
We also offer summer programs for all ages, including day camps (ages 4½–12) and evening training classes.
